Cancer Services
With a diagnosis of cancer, the need for top-notch treatment and follow-up is immediate. Our staff of highly-qualified surgeons, nurses, and specialists in hematology, oncology, and oncology radiation provides exactly that. Our oncology department now includes our expanded Cancer Hematology Outpatient Unit dedicated to both cancer and hematology.
Conway Regional has a nationally-recognized integrated cancer program, approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer.
Our newly renovated mammography suites provide additional privacy and accessibility, including ultrasound and mammography with stereotactic breast biopsy. A third mammography unit is available in our Women's Center in the Barbara Harpe Nabholz, Pavilion.
Conway Regional offers surgery services within the medical center and through its outpatient surgery center adjacent to the medical center complex. The outstanding service and care of our surgery center has been recognized with excellent patient satisfaction survey scores. Our surgical staff has the expertise to aid patients in deciding which surgical and treatment options are best for them.
In addition to on-campus chemotherapy, we offer radiation therapy at the CARTI/Conway Regional facility. Chemotherapy treatments are given based on the recommendations of the patient's physicians. Chemotheraphy treatments may be given on an inpatient or outpatient basis per the patient's physician. This means that treatment regimes and protocols prescribed by specialists at top cancer facilities, including those for rare forms of cancer, can all be performed within the health system.
Many individuals with cancer develop a common post-operative condition called lymphedema. We have specially trained lymphedema management (Leduc Method) occupational therapists on staff. Only a handful of individuals in Central Arkansas have this specialized training.
The diagnosis and treatment of cancer can take its toll on patients and their caregivers. Conway Regional assists patients through a network of oncology case managers and support activities, both one-on-one and group. For female patients, their families, and friends, Roses Among Thorns support group is an all-inclusive cancer support group that meets the third Wednesday of each month at Springhill Baptist Church. Savvy Caregiver workshops are also held quarterly. The "Look Good...Feel Better" program also provides wigs and makeovers, free of charge, to women going through cancer treatment. For details about either of these groups, call (501) 513-5800 or click here.
